“Warn your tribe of near kindred” — the call on Mount as-Safa

Commanded to warn his clan, he gathers Banu Hashim; Abu Talib promises protection while keeping his old religion. Then from Mount as-Safa he calls all Quraish: would they believe him if he said horsemen in the valley were about to raid them? “We have never experienced any lie from you,” they answer. Abu Lahab curses him, and Surah al-Masad is revealed.
