The Prophet’s Path Begin the story

About

The Prophet’s Path is a visual companion to The Sealed Nectar (الرحيق المختوم), Safiur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri’s prize-winning biography of the Prophet ﷺ.

Who it is for

People meeting the Seerah for the first time, and anyone who wants to see its shape at a glance: the order of events, where they happened, and who was there.

What you are reading

Every moment is a short summary written for this site in plain words. Nothing is added from outside the book. When the book gives more than one report, or its dates disagree, the site says so instead of choosing.

Quotations are kept short and always carry their page number. This site does not replace the book: for the full account, with its sources and commentary, please read The Sealed Nectar itself.

How it was checked

Each summary, date, number and quotation was checked against the pages it cites, line by line, and everything found was corrected. The short descriptions of people were checked the same way. Mistakes are still possible. The book is the authority: if this site and the book disagree, trust the book.

Page numbers

Page references follow the freely circulated MSA-NIU electronic text of the English translation. Printed editions, such as Darussalam’s, are paginated differently, so a page here may be a few pages away in your copy.

Maps and pictures

Places are drawn on a modern map. Hollow dots mark places whose exact location is uncertain, and journey lines show the general direction of travel, not the exact road. The landscapes are drawn for this site. Out of respect, no person is ever pictured.

Known gaps

The e-text used here is missing its account of the first night of revelation in the cave of Hira’. The site notes this on that moment rather than filling it in.
