Searching for a borrowed necklace, ‘Aishah is left behind by the army and brought back by a companion, Safwan. The hypocrites spread a malicious rumour. For a month she is ill and unaware of it; then Qur’anic verses (24:11 onward) are revealed declaring her innocence.
