The book reports that during the siege of Madinah, Banu Qurayzah, whose pact obliged them to help defend the city, broke it and sided with the Confederates. On the day the Confederates leave, the Muslims besiege their forts for 25 days. The tribe accepts the judgement of their former ally Sa’d bin Mu’adh, and the book reports that their men — between 600 and 700 — were executed and the women and children taken captive. Sa’d dies of his wound from the Trench soon after.
As the book dates it: Dhul-Qa’dah, 5 A.H.
