The Prophet ﷺ tells the Muslims to treat the captives well, and takes Abu Bakr’s advice to ransom them rather than ‘Umar’s to execute them. Prisoners who cannot pay are freed once they have taught ten children of Madinah to read and write. His daughter Zainab sends her necklace to ransom her husband.
As the book dates it: after Badr, 2 A.H.
